Bird Walk This Sunday! / ¡Caminata para ver aves el domingo!

So, two weeks ago we counted 38 species. Last week we saw 41. This week we’re shooting for 45. Be there or be…not there. Please join us a 7 AM this Sunday at the Reception of the Wilson Botanical Garden and we’ll see what we see.

Hace 2 semanas vimos 38 especies. La semana pasada fueron 41. ¡Este domingo ocupamos ver 45! Si quiere ayudar venga al jardín botánico Wilson a las 7. Reuniremos a la recepción. ¡Nos vemos entonces, ojalá!

Yet Another Bird Walk / ¡Caminamos otra vez!

Since last week was so popular, we’ve decided to do it again! Please join us at the Wilson Botanical Gardens this Sunday for a Bird Walk. We’ll meet at the reception at 7 AM and there will be binoculars! Let’s see if we can beat last week’s 38 species.

Porque la semana pasada fue un éxito enorme, ¡decidimos hacerlo otra vez! Habrá otra caminata para ver aves este doming al jardín botánico Wilson. Nos reuniremos a las 7 a la recepción y tendré los binoculares listos…ojalá. Intentaremos sobrepasar las 38 especies que hemos visto el domingo pasado.

So I lied. There will be another bird walk this year! We’ll meet this Sunday at 7AM at the WBG reception to bid goodbye to 2023 and say hello to Swallow-tailed Kites who just got back. I hope to see you there!

Please join us for the last bird walk of 2023 this Sunday at the Wilson Botanical Gardens. We’ll meet at the Reception at 7 AM and, hopefully, see lots of birdies if we can keep from talking up a storm. There will be binoculars available as always.

Please join us for a post Turkey Day bird walk this Sunday at the Wilson Botanical Gardens. We’ll meet at the Reception at 7 AM to celebrate the fact that the nearest mall or “Big Box” store is at least 200 kms away by enjoying the, hopefully, beautiful morning looking for birds. See you there!

Rise, Shine, Bird!

Please join us for a Bird Walk at the Wilson Botanical Garden (aka the OTS Las Cruces Biological Station) this Sunday, November 5, at 7:00 am.

We will meet at the Reception Building and have binoculars and field guides to share. As always, the Walk is free and open to the public so bring your friends and neighbors!

We will walk for about an hour after which we will have coffee in the dining room.

Maybe we will see a Common Tody-Flycatcher!

Time for an SVBC Bird Walk at the Wilson Botanical Garden, aka Las Cruces Biological Station.

Please join us this Sunday, October 22, at 7:30 am, meeting at the Reception Building. We’ll keep sharp eyes out for the beauty below and, as usual, have binoculars and field guides to share.

The Walk will take about an hour after which we’ll go to the dining room for coffee and socializing.

Bird Walk at Finca Cantaros: Sunday, Feb. 4!

Please join us this Sunday for a Bird Walk at the beautiful Finca Cantaros. We will meet you at the entrance gate at 7:00 am and will have binoculars to share.

The Walk is free and open to the public, so invite your friends and neighbors!

A signature bird of FC is the boisterous and dancing Buff-rumped Warbler — we will undoubtedly hear one or two and, with some luck, see them waggling their buffy rumps!

This is nesting season so we will be on the lookout for birds carrying nesting material or food for their young. It is a glorious time of year so come enjoy it with us!

After the walk, we can head to the Mottola Bakery for coffee and a social visit. Hope to see you there.

A Special Bird Walk This Sunday / Una caminata única este domingo

Please join us for a special bird walk this Sunday. We will be meeting up with some of our neighbors from San Joaquín in celebrating their festival. We will take a 3 KM walk into the mountain above the town where we will see birds, mammals, lots of plants, etc. It will be a fun change of pace and a chance to meet some new people. We will be meeting at the Catholic Church in San Joaquín at 7 AM. There will be a limited number of binoculars available. Please come!

Por favor únase con nosotros este domingo para una caminata con los vecinos de San Joaquín. Como parte de la festival cultural habrá una caminata de 3 kms por la montaña por arriba del pueblito. Veremos aves, mamíferos, plantas, etc. mientras disfrutamos de la conversación. Reuniremos a la iglesia católica de San Joaquín a las 7 AM. ¡Va a ser muy divertido y un cambio de ritmo! Habrá algunos binoculares disponibles.
